MIL Comes On with DTC P2101

SYMPTOM
The MIL comes on with DTC P2101 (electronic throttle control system malfunction) stored. The vehicle may enter failsafe mode and experience a lack of power or poor acceleration. The problem is intermittent, and cycling the ignition will usually restore the vehicle to its normal function. However, the MIL will remain on and DTC P2101 will be stored.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
The PGM-FI misinterprets the electronic throttle control system and sets DTC P2101.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the PGM-FI software.

NOTE: Unnecessary or incorrect repairs resulting from a failure to update the HDS or MVCI are not covered under warranty.
MVCI Control Module (CM) Update:
Application Version 3.01.40 or later
Database update 17-Mar-2015 or later
HDS Software Version:
3.016.018 or later
Before beginning the repair, make sure that both the HDS and MVCI are updated as listed above.
Do only the update listed in this service bulletin.
Check that the MVCI indicates the applicable program ID listed below (or a later program ID) as the Available Update when the update begins.
If the MVCI displays, This vehicle does not need an update at this time during the update, the software for this bulletin is already installed.
