Left Rear Door Molding End Is Loose?

EDITOR’S NOTE: This article replaces “Driver’s Side Rear Door Molding End Is Loose?,” posted in August 2018.
We’re getting reports of the back end of the left rear door molding coming loose. From our investigation, we’ve found this may be caused by the molding clip coming loose due to a curvature in the door hem.
If you get a vehicle in for this issue, here’s how to fix it.
- Remove the left rear door molding.
- Cut a 10 x 30 mm piece of adhesive-backed wool felt (must be 5 mm thick), and wrap it around the door edge as shown. Make sure you’ve got a 5 mm overhang on both sides.
- Install the molding.
