Hood Will Not Open

SYMPTOM
The hood will not open when using the hood opener lever.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Over-extending the hood opener lever dislodges the cables from the junction box.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the rear hood opener cable and the hood release handle.
NOTE
The hood cable consists of a front and a rear cable. This bulletin only replaces the rear cable.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Raise the vehicle on a lift.
- Remove the front driver-side wheel.
- Remove the front driver-side inner fender as needed.
NOTE
Carefully remove the inner fender clips. Prying on them will deform the mounting brackets. Use a small screw driver to disengage the clips.
- Inspect the junction box.
- If the junction box is open, go to step 5.
- If the junction box is not open, open it, and check if the cables are in the correct position.
- If the cables are not in the correct positions, go to step 5.
- If the cables are in the correct positions, this bulletin does not apply. Proceed with normal troubleshooting.
- Remove the rear hood opener cable from the junction box.
- Remove the hood opener lever from inside the vehicle.
- Install a new hood opener lever.
- Install a new rear hood opener cable.
NOTES
- Make sure the cables are installed correctly in the junction box.
- Only replace the rear hood opener cable.
- Close the junction box and install two zip ties.
NOTES
- The zip ties must be 2-4 mm wide to fit properly in the drain groove.
- Make sure the zip ties are installed tightly, and the left zip tie is installed in the drain groove on the junction box.
- Install the remaining removed parts in reverse order of removal.
