Roof Console Assembly Rattles While Driving

SYMPTOM

When driving, you hear a ticking or rattling from the roof console.

 

POSSIBLE CAUSE

The sunglass holder hinge bushing rattles because of a lack of lubrication.

 

CORRECTIVE ACTION                                                          

Replace the roof console assembly that contains the sunglass holder.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Turn off the map light switch.
2. Carefully pry off the lens with a small screwdriver.
3. Open and remove any items from the sunglass holder.
4. Remove the screws.

 

5. Disconnect the connectors and lower the roof console assembly.
6. Remove the HomeLink unit and the map light assembly from the roof console assembly.

 

7. Install the HomeLink unit and the map light assembly into the new roof console assembly.
8. Reinstall the roof console assembly in the reverse order of removal.
