SYMPTOM
The Low Tire Pressure indicator is on with VSA DTC C0077-78 (low tire pressure threshold refinement) stored, and the tire pressures are properly set to the driver’s doorjamb label.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
The TPMS software may not properly adapt to all driving conditions.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the VSA modulator-control unit software.
SOFTWARE INFORMATION
NOTE: Unnecessary or incorrect repairs resulting from a failure to update the MVCI or HDS are not covered under warranty.
MVCI Control Module (CM) Update:
Application (FW) Version: 3.01.50 or later
Database Update: 23-Nov-2015 or later
HDS Software Version:
3.017.012 or later
Before beginning the repair, make sure that both the HDS and the MVCI are updated as listed above. Do only the update listed in this service bulletin.
Check that the MVCI indicates the applicable program ID listed below (or a later program ID) as the Recommended Update when the update begins.
If the MVCI displays This vehicle does not need an update at this time, confirm that the MVCI’s Application (FW) Version and Database Update date are equal to or greater than the versions shown on page 1. If the software is correct, then the update for this bulletin has already been applied to the vehicle. If the software is not correct, update both the MVCI and HDS software.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Connect a fully charged jumper battery to the vehicle and leave it connected during the entire update procedure to maintain a steady voltage.
- Apply the parking brake and make sure the headlights are turned off.
- Turn the ignition to ON, and turn off all accessories.
- Connect the MVCI to the vehicle.
- Press the ENTER button on the MVCI to see the User Config Select CM Update Mode, then press ENTER.
- Select Reprogramming, then press ENTER.
- The CM Update Mode software screen appears. Press ENTER to continue.
NOTE: The FW VER must be 3.01.40 or later and Database Update must be 20-OCT-2014 or later.
- The Select System screen appears. Select ABS/VSA, then press ENTER.
NOTE: If the VSA update is the only available update, it will automatically go to the VSA selections.
- For program ID and program part number, see the chart under SOFTWARE INFORMATION.
- Scroll down to Running change and Press Press ENTER again to start reprogramming.
- Set the cold tire pressures according to the driver’s doorjamb label while the MVCI updates the vehicle.
- Once the update is complete, follow the screen prompts to turn the ignition to OFF, then to ON again when indicated.
NOTE: If an error occurs during the updating procedure, keep the ignition turned to ON; press ENTER to display the error code. Record the error code, restart the update.
If the error code reoccurs, refer to the CM Update Error Code Table in the MVCI User Guide for more information about the error code and its solutions.
- When the MVCI displays VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization is required after the completion of the update, scroll down and press ENTER.
- Go to VSA SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION MEMORIZATION PROCEDURE.
VSA SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION MEMORIZATION PROCEDURE
- Connect the HDS laptop to the MVCI.
- Turn on the HDS, and make sure the software version is 3.015.020 or later.
- Select Honda
Systems.
- Select ABS/TCS/VSA.
- Select Adjustment.
- Select All Sensors, then follow the screen prompts.
- Once completed, exit the VSA system; turn the ignition to OFF, then to ON again. Go to EPS STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION CLEAR PROCEDURE.
EPS STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION CLEAR PROCEDURE
- Go to EPS on the HDS.
- Select Adjustment.
- Select Steering Angle Sensor Value Clear.
- Follow the screen prompts.
- Turn the ignition to OFF then to ON again. Go to SPECIALTPMS CALIBRATION USED ONLY AFTER SOFTWARE UPDATE.
SPECIAL TPMS CALIBRATION USED ONLY AFTER SOFTWARE UPDATE (EXCEPT TOURING MODEL)
NOTE: For Touring models, follow the instruction under SPECIAL TPMS CALIBRATION USED ONLY AFTER SOFTWARE UPDATE (TOURING MODEL ONLY)
- Set the cold tire pressures according to the driver’s doorjamb label.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Press and hold the TPMS button until the Low Tire Pressure indicator blinks twice, then release the button. Repeat step 2 two more times waiting 3 seconds in between. After the third time, you should see the Low Pressure indicator come on within 5 seconds and go off.
NOTE: If you did not see the Low Tire Pressure indicator come on, turn the ignition to OFF and repeat steps 1 and 2.
- Disconnect the jumper battery, start the vehicle, and verify that the VSA and the Low Tire Pressure indicators come on and go off.
- Turn the ignition to OFF, exit the HDS, and disconnect the MVCI.
SPECIAL TPMS CALIBRATION USED ONLY AFTER SOFTWARE UPDATE (TOURING MODEL ONLY)
- Set the cold tire pressures according to the driver’s doorjamb label.
- Turn the ignition to ON.
- Using the MID and the steering wheel buttons, press the arrow buttons to select Vehicle Settings, then press the SEL/RESET button.
- Press the arrow buttons to select TPMS Calibration, then press the SEL/RESET button.
- After the display switches to Setup, press the SEL/RESET button.
- Press the arrow buttons to select Calibrate, then press the SEL/RESET button.
- The MID will now display Calibration Started, followed by a return to the TPMS Calibration
NOTE: If you see Calibration Failed to Start, repeat step 5.
- Repeat steps 3 and 5 two more times. After the third time, you should see the Low Pressure/TPMS indicator come on within 5 seconds and go off.
NOTE: If you did not see the Low Pressure indicator come on, turn the ignition to OFF and repeat steps 2 and 8.
- Disconnect the jumper battery, start the vehicle, and verify that the VSA and the Low Tire Pressure indicators come on and go off.
- Turn the ignition to OFF, exit the HDS, and disconnect the MVCI.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. ("Honda
") offers the i-HDS (Honda
Diagnostic System) software suite for the diagnosis and repair of electronic systems on Honda
and Acura
automobiles, and for the reprogramming of electronic control units (including, but not limited to, ECMs and PCMs). This software provides access to all Honda
and Acura
vehicle systems (access to the immobilizer security system requires a Security Professional level software subscription and Vehicle Security Professional [VSP] registration with NASTF). To use the i-HDS software, you need to purchase one of our convenient subscription options. In addition, you will need a pass-thru Vehicle Communication Device (VCI) that is compliant with SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2 in order to communicate with the vehicle
Vehicle Communication Interfaces (VCI)
The i-HDS software supports the use of a generic pass-thru VCI that is compliant with SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2. However, Honda recommends the Denso DST-i or the Bosch MVCI for use on Honda
and Acura
vehicles, as Honda
has worked closely with these manufacturers to ensure their hardware and our software interact safely and within the J2534-1 and -2 specifications, for both diagnostics and reprogramming. If you choose to use a generic VCI, please carefully consider the customer and technical support options you will receive from your chosen device supplier. Honda
does not provide technical or customer support for generic VCI devices.
The VCI Application Table below lists devices that either are approved and supported by Honda or are known to have completed and passed an independent, exhaustive validation program with our i-HDS software suite.

Reprogramming with the J2534 Rewrite Application in i-HDS
Included in the i-HDS software suite is a new reprogramming application called J2534 Rewrite. This application is made available to all subscribers of the i-HDS software suite and replaces the previous generation software, J2534 Honda Pass-thru Reprogramming Software.
This new application is compatible with generic VCIs that comply with SAE J2534. It must be used to reprogram any Honda/Acura
vehicle equipped with ECUs that support reprogramming. Refer to the table below for legacy applicability for the programming of ECMs and PCMs. Though system dependent, late-model vehicles may be equipped with other ECUs that support reprogramming as well, e.g. ABS or VSA. J2534 Rewrite must be used to reprogram these control modules, as instructed in an applicable service bulletin.
As shown in this table, not all legacy Honda/Acura
models are equipped with a reprogrammable ECM/PCM. Furthermore, all 2007 and later models not listed in the table are fully supported with this application.
