Safety Recall: 2021 Accord Second Row Center Seat Belt Replacement

BACKGROUND
The automatic locking retractor (ALR) function on the second row center seat belt assembly may improperly deactivate. If the seat belt webbing is pulled out to the end and the ALR deactivates, the seat belt webbing can retract or extend freely, preventing proper child seat restraint with the seat belt. ALR deactivation does not comply with the requirements of FMVSS 208, Occupant Crash Protection, increasing the risk of injury to the child seat occupant.

Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this campaign.
Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible.
Some vehicles affected by this campaign may be in your new or used vehicle inventory.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Detach the trunk floor cover as needed.
2. Fold down the rear set-back, remove the clip, turn over the rear seat-back cover, then remove the bolt.
3. While pushing down on the seat cushion, pull the seat hook handles to release the hooks, then remove the rear seat cushion.
4. Remove the C-pillar trim.
5. Remove the left and right rear seat side trim.
6. Remove the lower C-pillar trim.
7. Fold down the rear seat-back.
8. Remove the rear shelf.
9. Cut the seat belt webbing of the center seat belt to destroy the bad seat belt.
10. Remove the bolt at the top center seat belt and at the floor.
11. Install the new center seat belt and torque the bolts to 38 N.m (28 lb-ft).
12. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
