Noncompliance description:
The automatic locking retractor (ALR) function on the second row center seat belt assembly may improperly deactivate. If the seat belt webbing is pulled out to the end and the ALR deactivates, the seat belt webbing can retract or extend freely, preventing proper child seat restraint with the seat belt. ALR deactivation does not comply with the requirements FMVSS 208, Occupant Crash Protection, increasing the risk of injury to the child seat occupant.
573.6(c)(7)
Determination of noncompliance:
September 2021
Routine factory quality inspections of new vehicles identified movement in the second row center seat belt after the seat belt webbing was pulled out to the end. The seat belt supplier was informed of this discovery and the supplier identified specific seat belt production lots where the material used by the Tier-2 supplier of the ALR lever was contaminated, which reduced the ALR lever holding force and resulted in improper ALR deactivation.
October 2021
The seat belt supplier confirmed the cause of the ALR lever contamination at a Tier-2 supplier.
November 11, 2021
Honda
determined that a FMVSS noncompliance existed and decided to conduct a noncompliance recall.
573.6(c)(8)(i)
Program for remedying the noncompliance:
Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda
dealer. The dealer will replace the second row center seat belt assembly with a new assembly for free.
Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense will be eligible for reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA.

No complicated setup required. Instantly identify your vehicle and access the relevant systems. Maintain safer braking performance without a shop visit. (NOTE: A few cars don't support ABS Bleeding function, pls check it before purchase)

Next Unread Message View Message DATE: November 19, 2021 TO: All Honda Sales, Service, & Parts Managers, and Personnel FROM: Brad Ortloff, Manager of Auto Campaigns and Recalls Re: Stop Sale/Safety Recall: 2021-22 Multi-Model Honda Second Row Center Seat Belt On November 18, 2021, American Honda nofified NHTSA of a stop sale and safety/noncompliance recall for certain 2021 Accord Sedan and Hybrid, 2021 CR-V, 2022 CR-V Hybrid, 2022 Insight, and 2021 Ridgeline units for improperly manufactured second row center seat belt assemblies. The automatic locking retractor (ALR) may deactivate and fail to lock, preventing proper child seat restraint with the seat belt, increasing the risk of injury to the child seat occupant.Refer to your eResponsibility report or perform an iN VIN status inquiry to determine which units in your inventory are affected. Failure to repair a vehicle as necessary prior to sale may subject your dealership to claims or lawsuits. BACKGROUND An issue during supplier production led to the manufacturing of a lever component that did not meet original specificaons. The ALR function on the second row center seat belt assembly may improperly deacfivate. If the seat belt webbing is pulled out to the end and the ALR deactivates, the seat belt webbing can retract or extend freely, prevenng proper child seat restraint with the seat belt. ALR deactivation does not comply with the requirements FMVSS 208, Occupant Crash Protection, increasing the risk of injury to the child seat occupant. REPAIR Replace the second row center seat belt. PARTS Parts will be available through the controlled parts ordering system. TOOLS There are no special tools needed for this recall.
