INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTE: This inspection can be done on the service drive.
- Open the hood and remove the engine cover.
- Check if the purge and fuel feed hose is routed underneath the breather pipe and not above it.
Is the fuel feed hose and purge hose routed underneath the breather pipe?
Yes โ The vehicle is okay, install the engine cover.
No โ Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Remove the engine cover.
- Disconnect and remove the purge hose.
- Relieve the fuel pressure using the i-HDS.
- Remove the fuel hose cover.
- Remove the quick connect fitting cover on the frame side, then disconnect the quick connect fuel line.
NOTE: A disconnected quick connect fitting can be reused, but the retainer on the mating line cannot be reused once it has been removed from the line. Replace the retainer only if needed.
- Remove the fuel feed hose quick connect fitting cover on the engine side, then disconnect the fuel line.
NOTE: A disconnected quick connect fitting can be reused, but the retainer on the mating line cannot be reused once it has been removed from the line. Replace the retainer only if needed.
- Install the new purge and fuel hoses in reverse order of removal. Make sure the hoses are routed underneath the breather pipe.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode (but do not start the engine). The fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, and fuel pressure rises. Repeat this two or three times, then make sure there are no fuel leaks.
- Install the engine cover.
- For California residents only: Fill out a Vehicle Emissions Recall โ Proof of Correction certificate, and use KF8 as the recall number. Give the certificate to your customer, and advise him or her to keep it as proof that the recall was completed. Your customer will need to submit this certificate to the DMV only if the DMV requests it. If you need more certificates, use reorder number Y0657.
