Fuel Fill Door Is Hard to Open

SYMPTOM
When the fuel fill door is pressed, the release latch does not disengage. The problem may be intermittent, and it usually only occurs when the door has not been opened for at least a day.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The fuel door lifter assembly is faulty.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the fuel fill door push lifter.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Remove the screw and the rubber push lifter cover from the fuel fill door adapter.
- Gently pull on the fuel fill door adapter to access the back of the push lifter assembly.
- Pinch the push lifter hooks with a pair of needle nose pliers to release the lifter from the adapter.
- Install a new push lifter, push the adapter back into position, and reinstall the screw and the rubber push lifter cover.
