SYMPTOM
The oil filter is hard to remove.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
The original oil filter was cross-threaded onto the oil filter feed pipe.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the oil filter feed pipe.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
- If not already done, raise the vehicle on a lift.
- Remove the splash shield to gain better access to the oil filter.
- Remove the oil filter.
- If the oil filter is hard to remove, the oil filter feed pipe threads are stripped/damaged, or the oil filter comes off with the feed pipe attached to it, go to step 4.
- If the oil filter comes off as normal and the oil filter feed pipe is not damaged, this bulletin does not apply.
- If the oil filter feed pipe did not come off with the oil filter, remove it using vise-grips.
- Thread two 20 x 1.5 mm jam nuts to the new oil filter feed pipe.
- Lock the nuts together using a 30 mm wrench and 30 mm socket wrench.
- Add a few drops of engine oil to the threads of the oil filter feed pipe, then install, and torque it to 35 N∙m (26 lb-ft).
- Remove the nuts from the oil filter feed pipe.
- Complete the oil change as needed.
