DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Test-drive the vehicle to confirm if the clunk or rattle is coming from the front suspension. The noise may also sound like it is coming from under the dash.
- Check the torque of the two self-locking nuts located at the top of the front damper/spring assemblies using a 6mm hex wrench, 17mm socket, strut nut adapter, and a torque wrench set to 44 N·m (32 ft-lb).
- If the nuts are properly torqued and do not move, this bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal troubleshooting.
- If either nut is loose, go to step 3.
- Remove the loose self-locking nut(s), install new a self-locking nut(s) and torque them to 44 N·m (32 ft-lb) using a 6mm hex wrench, 17mm socket, strut nut adapter, and a torque wrench.
