On November 21, 2023, American Honda notified NHTSA of a stop sale and safety recall for certain model year 2023-2024 Accord and HR-V vehicles due to improper
manufacturing of the front seat belt pretensioner, which may not restrain the occupant properly in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury. Refer to your
eResponsibility report or perform an iN VIN status inquiry to determine which units in your inventory are affected.
Failure to repair a vehicle as necessary prior to sale or before returning the vehicle to a customer may subject your dealership to claims or lawsuits.
BACKGROUND
During seat belt manufacturing, some front seat belt pretensioners may have been assembled without a rivet securing the quick connector and wire plate, resulting in front
seat belts not functioning as designed.
REPAIR
Inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat belt pretensioner.
TOOLS AND PARTS
Inspection tools currently are estimated to be delivered to dealers in late November 2023. Parts are also estimated to be available at that time through the normal controlled
ordering process. We will notify you via iN message when they become available.

HR-V Front Seat Belt Pretensioner Inspection Stop Sale have posted to the Service Information System (SIS) as of November 22, 2023. Revised bulletins, including
inspection, repair, parts, tools, and warranty claim information, will be posted to the SIS at a later date.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
American Honda expects to complete customer notification in early January 2024.
As always, perform an iN VIN status inquiry for all vehicles passing through your dealership to determine eligibility for any open campaigns.

Description of the Safety Risk : Seat belt pretensioners missing a rivet will not properly restrain the occupant
in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury.

Honda investigated the potentially affected population of vehicles.
November 16, 2023
Honda determined that a defect related to motor vehicle safety and a FMVSS noncompliance existed and
decided to conduct a safety and noncompliance recall.
As of November 16, 2023, Honda has had 7 warranty claims, and no reports of injuries or deaths related to this
issue from April 26, 2022, through November 16, 2023.
Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and
asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer. The dealer will
inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat belt pretensioner assembly with
a non-defective part.
Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own
expense may be eligible for
reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with
NHTSA.

Please be advised that as of today, November 29, 2023, parts are currently available for this recall. Due to the low expectancy of replacements needed after inspection, parts
will be available via the controlled ordering process. The following service bulletins have been revised with inspection, repair, tools, parts, and warranty information related
to this recall:

On November 21, 2023, American Honda notified NHTSA of a stop sale and safety recall for certain model year 2023-2024 Accord and HR-V vehicles due to improper
manufacturing of the front seat belt pretensioner, which may not restrain the occupant properly in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury.
Effective immediately all dealers that have inventory of the below parts are required to stop installing and check the Julian Date on the red and white Honda label. Any part
with a label with a Julian date prior to 23305 must be returned to AHM. Do not install any parts with a Julian date prior to 23305.
Part numbers: 81425-3W0-A01ZA; 81825-30A-A01ZA; 81825-3W0-A01ZA.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT RETURNS ARE MADE IMMEDIATELY.
Return Request Process:
You must return all “NG” 2023-24M Accord, HR-V Front Seat Belts. Part numbers: 81425-3W0-A01ZA; 81825-30A-A01ZA;
81825-3W0-A01ZA with a Julian date prior to 23305 in your inventory.
These returns will not be charged against your SRA credit.
Return iN OAR Procedure:
If Invoice is within 28 business days, please use the following instructions.
1. Complete the iN OAR procedures.
2. Use Reason Code “J” with your original shipper number.
3. Enter “Seatbelt” in the Remarks Section.
4. When approved, “Authorization Return Document” will be available via iN.
5. Return P/N 81425-3W0-A01ZA; 81825-30A-A01ZA; 81825-3W0-A01ZA back to American Honda.
If Invoice is past 28 business days, please use the following instructions.
1. Fill out a manual OAR and include the original invoice number.
2. Email the form to your Facing Parts Center OAR mailbox.
3. Subject Line: Dealer Number, Part Number, HR-V Front Seat Belt
Order adjustment requests (OARs) must be submitted by 12/12/23.
If your dealership incurs freight costs for parts return, please include a copy of the freight bill with your return.
