Engine Crankcase Cover May Leak Oil
Oil can leak onto the exhaust pipe or rear tire without the plug, increasing the risk of a fire, crash, or injury.

Summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023 Rebel 300 (CMX300) motorcycles. The right engine crank house cover was incorrectly painted, allowing the press-fit plug to fall out.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the right crank case cover, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 5, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-784-1870. Honda’s number for this recall is KP2.

Honda received a report from the Japanese market of engine oil spraying from an affected vehicle while in operation and began to investigate the issue.
January 30, 2023
Honda received a report from the Indian market of oil leaking out from the right crankcase cover of an affected vehicle.
February 2023
Honda began an investigation into the potential presence of paint in the crankcase plug press-fit hole.
March 13, 2023
Honda received a report from the Japanese market of an affected vehicle leaking oil from the engine while in operation.
April 6, 2023
Honda determined that a defect related to motor vehicle safety existed and decided to conduct a safety recall.
As of April 6, 2023, Honda has received no warranty claims or reports for this issue in the U.S. market. No crashes or injuries related to this issue were reported.
