Summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2022 Honda NVA110B motorcycles. The speedometer cable was incorrectly routed and may break or detach.
Remedy
Dealers will replace and reroute the speedometer cable, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 1, 2023. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda’s number for this recall is KP1.

2022 NVA110B Speedometer Cable Replacement
BACKGROUND
Honda is launching a SAFETY RECALL on CERTAIN 2022 NVA110B motorcycles to replace the speedometer cable. An improperly routed speedometer cable may result in a speedometer malfunction which can affect the rider’s judgment to ride safely, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
AFFECTED UNITS
As of March 16, 2023, YOU MUST NOT SELL CERTAIN NEW or USED 2022 NVA110B motorcycles until they are repaired according to this Service Bulletin.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
American Honda intends to mail customer letters to all owners of affected 2022 NVA110B motorcycles in May 2023. Customers will be informed that their motorcycle may be affected by a safety related defect and will be advised to make an appointment with an authorized Honda dealer for repair.
PARTS INFORMATION
Parts are available and can be ordered through the Controlled Parts Ordering process. An affected vehicle VIN will be required to order the speedometer cable.

SPEEDOMETER CABLE REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the headlight assembly and disconnect the headlight bulb.
Note: Be careful to pull the lower part of the headlight outward slightly, then release the tab that secures the meter cover to the headlight assembly and pull the assembly straight out.
2. Disconnect the speedometer cable by unscrewing the knurled nut that attaches the speedometer cable to the underside of the meter.
3. Pull the speedometer cable through the cable guides.
4. At the front wheel hub, release the tab securing the other end of the speedometer cable to the brake panel.
5. Remove the speedometer cable.
6. Install the new speedometer cable in reverse order of removal. Follow the routing instructions shown below.
7. Re-connect the headlight connector and install the headlight assembly in reverse order of removal.
8. Confirm the speedometer is operating correctly.

As of March 16, 2023, Honda has received 38 warranty claims related to the issue between February 16, 2022 and March 16, 2023 with no reports of injuries or deaths related to this issue.
