NHTSA Recall 19V-694
IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL
This notice applies to your vehicle: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Dear FIRSTNAME LASTNAME,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS NOTICE?
Honda has decided that certain 2019 CR-V vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, Occupant Crash Protection, because the owner’s guide contains incorrect information about the operation of the Passenger Airbag Off Indicator. The owner’s guide, which is provided in your vehicle and includes basic information and instructions on technology and convenience features, incorrectly states that the indicator will not illuminate if the front passenger seat is empty. The opposite is actually true: the indicator will illuminate when the front passenger seat is empty. A vehicle occupant reviewing the owner’s guide information may misunderstand when the Passenger Airbag Off Indicator should be illuminated and become confused about the operation of the passenger airbag. If the front passenger does not correctly understand how the airbag functions, they may be at an increased risk of personal injury in the event of a crash. Please note that there are no problems with the airbag system, and only the Passenger Airbag Off Indicator information in the owner’s guide is incorrect.
YOUR VEHICLE IS ALSO ELIGIBLE FOR A SEPARATE AND UNRELATED PRODUCT UPDATE CAMPAIGN
The owner’s guide also does not include vehicle rollover information required for your CR-V. The missing information would have advised the driver of a higher rollover risk, and to wear their seat belt to reduce the chance of injury or death in a rollover crash, because your CR-V is higher off the ground than a passenger vehicle.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO?
Enclosed are two stickers and instructions on how to apply the stickers in your owner’s guide: 1) correct Passenger Airbag Off Indicator information, and 2) vehicle rollover information required for your CR-V. Please follow the enclosed instructions and apply the two stickers in your owner’s guide. If you prefer, your local Honda dealer can apply the stickers, free of charge. If you have recently visited a Honda
automobile dealer, this action may have already been completed. If you are not the only driver of this vehicle, please advise all other drivers and passengers of this important information.
CHECK YOUR VEHICLE FOR OPEN RECALLS
You can check your vehicle’s eligibility for repair under this or any other recall. Please access the Honda Recall Lookup tool at www.recalls.honda.com and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
OWNER INFORMATION
You received this notice because government regulations require that notification be sent to the last known owner of record. Our records are based primarily on state registration and title information, which indicate that you are the current owner of this vehicle. If this is not the case, or if any of the information is not correct, please complete, sign and return the Information Change Card and we will then update our records. If you are a lessor of this vehicle, federal regulations require you to forward this notice to your lessee within ten days.
DO YOU STILL HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?
If you have questions or concerns, we encourage you to:
- contact your local Honda
automobile dealer; or

Campaña de seguridad NHTSA 19V-694
CAMPANA DE SEGURIDAD IMPORTANTE
Esta notificación aplica a su vehículo: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Estimado FIRSTNAME LASTNAME,

2019 Honda CR-V
- Approximately 348,000 vehicles are affected in the United States
- For Free: A new adhesive owner’s guide insert will be sent by mail to owners; no visit to a dealer required
- Incorrect information in owner’s guides does not comply with federal regulations and may cause confusion for vehicle owners
TORRANCE, Calif. – Oct. 8, 2019 –American Honda will voluntarily recall approximately 348,000 model-year 2019 Honda
CR-V vehicles in the United States to update a page in their owner’s guides, for free.
The owner’s guide page describing the function of the “Passenger Airbag Off” indicator mistakenly notes that the indicator will not illuminate if the front passenger seat is empty, while the indicator actually will illuminate in that circumstance. Having this incorrect information in the owner’s guide does not conform to federal regulation (FMVSS/TSD (CMVSS) 208 S4.5.1(f)(2)(iv)). Owners of affected vehicles will receive a new adhesive owner’s guide insert by mail, including instructions on how to apply the sticker. The updated owner’s guide insert provides correct information to avoid potential owner confusion.
Honda encourages each owner of an affected vehicle to apply the updated owner’s guide insert sticker to their vehicle’s guide as soon as they receive it by mail from Honda
. Mailed notification to owners, including the updated insert, will begin in midNovember 2019. Owners of these models can also determine if their specific vehicles are included in the recall by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 2342138.
