Warranty Extension: IMA Battery

BACKGROUND
To improve customer confidence, American Honda is extending the warranty coverage on all 2009–11 non-PZEV Civic IMA battery modules to match the PZEV warranty, which is 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.
There is no change to the warranty on 2009–11 PZEV Civic IMA battery modules.
NOTE: The junction board is not covered under this warranty extension.

Diagnose the problem with the IMA battery. Refer to the electronic service manual and enter keywords HOW TO, then select How to Troubleshoot the IMA system.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Replace the IMA battery; refer to the electronic service manual.
NOTE:
- You must be fully certified in the Electrical Fundamentals map, and have completed training modules MAC 10 and 12 on the Electrical Systems map, in order to do junction board and IMA battery module replacements.
- For more information about ordering and replacing the IMA battery, refer to Service Bulletin 10-061, IMA Battery Exchange Program, and 12-048, Junction Board Replacement (IMA Battery Module Replacement and Transfer of Junction Board).
