MIL Comes On With DTC P0973

 

SYMPTOM

The MIL is on with DTC P0973 (short in shift solenoid valve A circuit).

 

PROBABLE CAUSE

Ferrous contamination on the contact area of the solenoid causes a short.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

  1. Replace shift solenoid A (blue wire in harness).

SOLENOID COVER GASKET

 

NOTE: Replace the solenoid cover gasket and the ATF cooler pipe sealing washers during installation.

  1. Clear the DTC with the HDS, then test-drive the vehicle to ensure that the DTC does not recur.
  2. Inspect for any automatic transmission fluid leaks related to the repair.
