October 2014 Warranty Extension: Electric Power Steering With DTC 32-09 or 61-04 Dear Civic Si Owner: On some 2006-09 Civic Si vehicles, the electric power steering may feel heavier than normal or is hard to turn, particularly when the vehicle is not moving. To ensure your confidence in our product, American Honda is extending the warranty of the electric power steering to 10 years from the original date of purchase, or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. This warranty extension provides coverage for the current owner and any subsequent owners. No action is required on your part unless you experience a problem. The warranty extension is valid except for any vehicle that has ever been declared a total loss or sold for salvage by a financial institution or insurer, or has a branded, or similar title under any state’s law. What should you do? If the steering feels heavier than normal, contact any authorized Honda dealer for an appointment to have it repaired. Please plan to leave your vehicle at the dealer for one full day to allow them flexibility in scheduling. Lessor Information Please forward a copy of this notice to the lessee. What to do if you feel this notice is in error Our records show that you are the current owner or lessee of a 2006-09 Civic Si involved in this warranty extension. If this is not the case, or the name/address information is not correct, please fill out and return the enclosed, postage-paid Information Change Card. We will then update our records. If you previously paid to have the electric power steering module replaced because of heavier feel than normal or is hard to turn, particularly when the vehicle is not moving, even if you no longer own the vehicle, you may be eligible for reimbursement.
