Safety Recall: 2022 Odyssey Bridgestone Tire Inspection
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Year | Model | Trim | VIN Range |
2022 | Odyssey | ALL | Check the iN VIN status for eligibility |
REVISION SUMMARY
This service bulletin was revised extensively, American Honda recommends you read this entire bulletin.
BACKGROUND
An electrical short occurred during the DOT label laser etching process, potentially causing the laser to burn a pinhole through the tire sidewall. Should the pinhole penetrate the tire’s inner liner, a slow air loss may occur. If left unaddressed, this slow leak could affect tire performance and, depending upon other circumstances, increase the risk of a crash.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this campaign.
Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible.
Some vehicles affected by this campaign may be in your new or used vehicle inventory.
Failure to repair a vehicle subject to a recall or campaign may subject your dealership to claims or lawsuits from the customer or anyone else harmed as a result of such failure. To see if a vehicle in inventory is affected by this safety recall, do a VIN status inquiry before selling it.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Inspect the DOT date code number for pinholes on all 4 tires. Then, replace the tire(s) if needed.

Statement by American Honda Regarding Tire Recall: 2022 Honda
Odyssey
- 181 vehicles are affected in the United States
- Tires will be inspected for manufacturing damage, and if such damage is found, the tire will be replaced for free
- No reported crashes or injuries related to this issue
TORRANCE, Calif. – Oct. 5, 2021 – In the United States, American Honda will voluntarily recall 181 Honda
Odyssey vehicles from the 2022 model year to inspect each vehicle’s tires in order to determine if one or more were damaged during the tire manufacturing process. If a recalled tire is found to be damaged, it will be replaced for free. No related crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this issue, which was discovered during quality checks at the tire manufacturer.
A total of seven tires supplied to Honda and subsequently installed on certain 2022 Honda
Odysseys potentially were damaged by a laser used to inscribe DOT codes on sidewalls. The sidewalls on the affected tires may have a pinhole that could result in unexpected, reduced tire pressure. Low tire pressure could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash or injury. Based on Honda
production records, 181 vehicles that potentially received one or more defective tires at the factory will be inspected by an authorized Honda
dealer to complete the recall.
Honda is announcing this recall to encourage each owner of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda
. Mailed notification to owners will begin in mid-Nov. 2021. Owners can also
determine if their specific vehicles are included in the recall by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.

Next Unread Message View Message DATE: October 1, 2021 TO: All Honda Sales, Service, & Parts Managers, and Personnel FROM: Brad Ortloff, Manager of Auto Campaigns and Recalls Re: Stop Sale/Safety Recall: 2022 Odyssey Bridgestone Tires On August 19, 2021, Bridgestone Americas, Inc. filed a Part 573 Safety Recall Report (ID# 21T-012) with NHTSA related to certain improperly manufactured tires that may contain a pinhole that can penetrate the tire’s inner liner causing the tire to slowly leak air. This slow leak could affect tire performance, increasing the risk of a crash. Although this recall affects multiple vehicle manufacturers and the affermarket, the total suspect population of tires provided to Honda for OEM installation is 6,064. On September 30, 2021, after an internal investigation of production records, American Honda notified NHTSA of a stop sale and safety recall for 181 model year 2022 Odyssey units that were potentially affected by this defect. Refer to your eResponsibility report or do an iN VIN status inquiry to determine which units in your inventory are affected by this market action. Please note that American Honda is only recalling affected vehicles that were possibly built with one of the affected tires as original equipment. Bridgestone is handling the replacement of any affermarket tires with this defect separately and directly with dealers. Failure to repair a recalled vehicle as necessary prior to sale may subject your dealership to claims or lawsuits. BACKGROUND An electrical short occurred during the DOT label laser etching process, potentially causing the laser to burn a pinhole through the tire sidewall. Should the pinhole penetrate the tire’s inner liner, a slow air loss may occur. If left unaddressed, this slow leak could affect tire performance and, depending upon other circumstances, increase the risk of a crash. REPAIR All tires on recalled vehicles will require an inspection for pinholes near the DOT label and photograph claim submission to verify that any tires found with pinholes have been properly identified and will be replaced as necessary. PARTS Replacement tires are available through your authorized Honda Tire Center (TireRack Wholesale Solutions: 877-327-8473).
